The new addition to the WD Red family is the 5TB and 6TB variants which are enormous and extremely huge capacity which meets the requirements of heavy gamer and coders. Together with these exciting storage capabilities, the system performance and reliability is much improved now with NASware 3.0, an updated version of Western Digital’s NASware technology. This also brings a great reduction of customer downtime and much simplified integration process.
Since the NASware is now 3.0, the WD Red 1-6TB capacity drivers are capable of supporting up to 8 bay NAS systems. Last but not least, the WD Red hard drives now features 3D Active Balance Plus which improves stability of performance and reliability compared to previous versions and if you still have any issues, exclusively for WD Red customers you get to enjoy free premium 24×7 dedicated customer support.
On top of the WD Red, we have a new comer in the market now which is the WD Red Pro, a much ideal and perfect disk drive for medium to large business environments as it could support up to 16 bay NAS systems. However, if you choose to get the WD Red Pro, you’re limited to only 2-4TB of storage capabilities. To make up on that, you get 5 years of limited warranty for the WD Red Pro series while the WD Red is restricted to only 3 years of limited warranty.
The price for the WD Red 5TB is set at RM819 while the WD Red 6TB is set at RM989. For the WD Red Pro series, 2TB is set at RM529, 3TB at RM659 while the 4TB is set at RM859. These hard drives are now made available to purchase at selected retailers near you.
