Despite the MWC 2014 taking place on 24th of February, not too far away, most of us are definitely anticipating the all new S Series from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy S5, with most sources coming up with predictable specification sheet, as it is definitely predictable as we have adapt to the Samsung’s pattern of applying hardware which would be mouth-watering as how it would be each time their flagship devices being introduced.
So, as only around 2 weeks before the official introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S5, a leaked image, seems legit, of a box which is most likely the box of the Samsung Galaxy S5, because the moment you have a look at the specifications, you’ll have the gut feeling of confidence that it is for the next Galaxy S series. As you can see on the image above taken from source, it would feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 that most of us have been waiting for. How can I confirm this? Well, on my Snapdragon 805 vs Tegra K1 post, if you take a look at it, I have mentioned that the Snapdragon 805 could be clocked at the peak of 2.5GHz, and it is the exact clock speed stated on the back of the box as well. I am definitely confident about this, however anything could happen until the official announcement is done.
Next, the chip supports LTE, which is quite common these days for a smartphone as without LTE it would be already classified as no longer a high-end device. Followed by the, the screen resolution which is the exact one with what we predicted, a QHD (2K) with their trademark Super Amoled technology. For the camera, you can see that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is taking the camera technology to another level ahead from their already known 13MP camera featured on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. This time out, Samsung is up for a major change with them introducing a 20MP with Auto Focus, quite clearly the main selling point of this smartphone. The front shooter would be a 2MP camera.
Moving on towards the capacity of RAM which is 3GB, as we know this would be featured on the Galaxy S5 following the introduction on the Galaxy Note 3, still no 4GB of RAM yet from Samsung, but as usual, their next version of Note will definitely feature a 4GB. As for the battery capacity, it is placed at 3000mAh, which could be disappointing despite a bigger resolution screen is featured in the Samsung Galaxy S5, it could require extra juice to sustain the display power compared to the Full HD screen. I still wonder why wouldn’t the phone manufacturers work on their battery capacity or a workaround for the battery life optimization as their main focus alongside all the massive CPU, RAM and screen updates.
Lastly, do take note on the box, it is also stated that it supports playback and recording for Full HD (1080p) and nothing mentioned about support towards 2K playback and recording, which is already featured on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Why would it be limited to only Full HD support? Probably it is not stated on the box, but would be featured on the final product itself. Let’s just brace ourselves and hope for the best from Samsung.
Also, no information about the fingerprint sensor or even the iris sensor if it would be featured or not. I would expect either one of these to be featured on the Samsung Galaxy S5 as well. So guys, what would you love to see on the S5?
