The official units will be made available for sale on 25th June onward rather than the previously promised 18th of June.

You have read it right! The Mi 5, flagship smartphone from Xiaomi is finally coming to Malaysia after a long wait. The official units will be made available in any retailing stores near you, as long the warranty is carried by Thorus itself. I am not sure about any upcoming Mi online store sales, but I am pretty sure some of you will still go for the choice of having to buy it at a physical shop near you.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 that we will be getting is the lower spec version. It has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage based on UFS 2.0 Flash. It has a Full HD resolution which is sized at 5.15-inch while the processor running within the smartphone will be the Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 1.8GHz. In terms of camera, the main one comes with 16MP sensor, f2.0 aperture with 4-axis OIS and dual-tone LED flash. The selfie camera is the one featured on the HTC One M9 series which is the 4MP f2.0 Ultra pixel camera.

This is a Dual SIM smartphone with both of them being Nano SIMs and full 4G LTE support. Last but not least, the Xiaomi Mi 5 comes with a non-removable 3000mAh battery which has Quick Charge enabled. Do take note that this smartphone uses the USB Type-C port instead of the regular USB port. Not to forget, this smartphone has a fingerprint scanner on the physical home button which is placed on the front.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 retails at RM1549 inclusive of GST and will be the cheapest smartphone to carry the Snapdragon 820 processor in Malaysia once it arrives.

Are you guys happy with the pricing or rather wait for the higher spec version?
