Apple introduces iPhone SE. Is it as powerful as the iPhone 6S?

Apple introduced the iPhone SE earlier which is a 4-inch smartphone packed with high-end specification. The SE is claimed to be as powerful as the all new iPhone 6S and priced much lower compared to each other. Some claim that the SE is invented in order to clear whatever existing parts of the previous iPhone 5S. Some parts are replaced so that these could be the key points of selling. In another point of view, Steve Job’s invention of this design remains and the legacy continues. I have always loved the smaller versions of iPhone compared to the large all-aluminium build.

The new iPhone SE has a 4-inch IPS display with a resolution of 640 x 1136 which results in a pixel density of 326ppi. Under the hood, we have the exact same processor found in the iPhone 6S which is the Duad core A9 chip clocked at 1.84GHz. This smartphone comes in two variants, 16GB and 64GB and all of them comes with 2GB of RAM to boost the processing power. The graphics are also powered by the same found on the iPhone 6S which is the PowerVR GT7600.

In terms of camera, the main camera is powered by the 12MP f2.2 aperture camera with dual tone LED found on the iPhone 6S as well. However the front camera on the iPhone SE is pretty disappointing as it is the same as the iPhone 5S which is 1.2MP. Front camera with 1.2MP, that’s sad. 🙁

Other than that, you get 1642mAh of non-removable battery and Touch ID as well. Sadly we won’t be having the Force Touch feature on the SE. Oh, you can definitely record 4K videos with the iPhone SE (yay!)

That’s about it, definitely as powerful as the iPhone 6S in order to handle the latest iOS version (iOS 9.3) and the upcoming ones perfectly. Slight disappointment on the front camera and the lack of Force Touch feature, however I will still considering getting this one simply because of its compact size. 🙂

The iPhone SE 16GB is priced at $399 (RM1599) while the 64GB variant is priced at $499 (RM1988). All of them comes with four different colors which are Gold, Silver, Rose Gold and Space Grey.

So, will you consider getting the iPhone SE or its a pass?
