ASUS Malaysia shared a teaser image of an upcoming ASUS Fonepad in their Facebook page which has a tagline of ” Slimmer yet Larger ” indicates it is pretty much the new ASUS Fonepad 8. Based on the image of the teaser, it looks identical to the globally released ASUS Fonepad 8.
The ASUS Fonepad 8 has a 8-inch IPS display which comes in a resolution of 800 x 1280 with a pixel density count of 189 ppi. ASUS Malaysia could possibly offer only the 8GB variant for the time being as the 16GB variant is also available globally, but to it be available here in Malaysia is unlikely to be this soon. It is not confirmed yet either to have a micro SD slot or not, but personally I think there will be micro SD option made available for us unless they bring in the 16GB variant.
You also get a front firing stereo speaker, 5MP rear camera plus 2MP selfie camera, Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, 3950mAh battery capacity, and 1GB of RAM. The ASUS Fonepad 8 is powered by Intel Atom Z3560 clocked at 1.8Ghz and yes it is indeed a Quad core processor. The ASUS Fonepad 8 supports 3G phone call capability which means you could make call directly using this tablet/phablet with its built in earpiece on the top which also works as speaker. The rear camera lacks of flash support so getting this device for its camera isn’t really a wise choice.
Since it is still under teaser level, information above might vary at certain areas, so please bare with it. Hence, I could assume the ASUS Fonepad 8 to be priced at about RM4xx. Let’s just wait and see what ASUS Malaysia comes up with officially.
