As awaited by many for the latest version of the Tab family, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 variants will be available to purchase in any Samsung Experience Store and authorized retailers starting from 19th May onward for the 10″ variant while the 7″ variant will be made available from 26th May onward. Excited much? Well I am pretty sure those who are currently using Tab 3 variants would be excited to know this and it’s a sign for an upgrade right? Currently only the WiFi+4G LTE for the 10″ variant and WiFi+3G for the 7″ variant as there is no news regarding the WiFi only variants and the Galaxy Tab 4 8″ LTE version.
Let’s start from the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0″ 3G. It has a 7″ inch 720p display with the resolution of 1280×800, The Tab 4 has phone call capabilities with connection speed up to HSDPA+ supported. Under the hood, it has a 1.2GHz quad core processor with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM with the option of microSD support made available up to 32GB. For those who purchase in Malaysia will be eligible for a free 16GB microSD card, which is the highest capacity ever given free by any phone manufacturer. Moving to the camera, the Tab 4 7.0″ 3G has a 3MP main camera with 1.3MP front shooter, no changes noticed on that one compared to the previous versions. Yes, it has all the basic features such as Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS with GLONASS and do take note there is no NFC in the Tab 4 variants. Lastly the battery capacity is set at 4000mAh for a decent battery life and the tablet weighs at 281g. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0″ 3G will be priced at RM999 which is the usual pricing from Samsung for their Tab family.
Next, let’s talk about the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1″ LTE. This tablet has a 10.1″ 720p display with the same resolution of 1280×800. Inside, it is powered by 1.2GHz quad core processor, 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM with the existence of microSD slot expandble up to 64GB as well as the free 16GB microSD card that will total up to 32GB and of course it won’t be the exact user available storage as per system usage.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1″ LTE has a rear camera with 3MP and a front shooter with 1.3MP, and yes it has LTE as mentioned in the name itself providing you high speed internet connection while on cellular data, and last but not least regarding the battery capacity of the Tab 4 10.1″ LTE is set at 6800mAh which should be decent enough to last for a day of heavy usage resulting in the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1″ LTE to be priced at RM1499 which is the usual pricing too for a 10″ inch tablet from Samsung. It weighs at a total of 495g and yes, it has GPS with GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0, same with the Tab 4 7.0″ 3G where it lacks NFC as well.
Oh yes, the best part on both of these Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 is that you will get Android 4.4 KitKat out of box! Yes, no more starting with Jellybean and waste your time waiting for the OTA update. Both of them comes in black and white color only for now, and we could expect special edition colors to come in the near future, maybe? Lack of LED flash would be a issue for some users, but I am pretty sure most of us would not buy a tablet for photography reasons. The Tab 4 family comes in a better design compared to the previous versions with a premium feeling textured back cover.
