It’s been sometime since the HTC One international version received the 4.3 Jellybean that most us us were anticipating it so badly as some flagship phones from Samsung was already getting theirs via OTA, not to forget during the times that most phones were getting their 4.3 Jellybean update pushed by their vendor, Android 4.4 KitKat was already introduced and taking its spot in the limelight and slowly our attention shifted towards the yummy KitKat which featured a lot of improvement coming from performance and also features that could possibly bring Android to another level, yes it is the ART that I am talking about which marvelously improves the smoothness, performance towards a whole new level! I tried it on my Nexus 4, and trust me it is mind blowing, although Whatsapp had some problem towards supporting ART, but it didn’t take too long as once 4.4.2 was pushed out towards the Nexus 4, the latest Whatsapp update fixed the issue. I will talk about ART in detail sometime soon with much more valuable points as I am gathering much more info by my own experiments.
Alright, sorry for the off-topic, so based on source, there was a tweet by a HTC Insider who revealed that the HTC One international version would be receiving its Android 4.4.2 KitKat update by next month at latest, which means by this month itself HTC would be pushing their KitKat update to certain devices by stages depending on their country list which I would reckon Taiwan to get it first and followed by the rest. However, usually this kind of news would not mean much to users in Malaysia but at least would know the rough estimated time and the knowledge of some countries retaining the update would possibly make us feel better, and knowing that, probably Malaysian users would be getting their update around early or towards the end of March I assume.
Do take note that this Android 4.4.2 update would not feature the Sense 6 and would remain with the Sense 5.5 until the rumored HTC One+ or HTC One Two is released official. So all we could do now is patiently wait for the official OTA of the KitKat update or if you would want to try it out unofficially, you could always get the ported rom of the HTC One Google Play Edition which has already received its Android 4.4.2 update not too long ago, but do take note that it is based on stock Vanilla Android experience, which means it would not feature any goodies from the HTC’s Sense UI including the Blinkfeed and the camera app itself. But some of these features have already been ported and use-able on the HTC One Google Play Edition ROM. Need more information? Do leave your comments below.
